Today we practiced recognizing the letter and sound on the cards seen on the table. We made fresh play-dough in the morning, so we used that to make the letters as well as our names. On the chalkboards, we practiced writing the letters. Everyone is getting so good at writing letters and knowing the French sounds!

Yesterday, the students made these lovely little flowers to display some of the site words they have been working on, in English, with Mme Katie. Well done!
The other afternoon, we went on a hunt for letters around the class. The letter cards that were hidden were images from Raconte moi l'alphabet, so the kids were familiar with the image and the letter and sound that went along with it. Once they found all the letters, we gathered on the circle carpet and shared the name and sound of the letters we found! The boys were certainly part of this activity too, just not in the mood for pictures!
We have been talking about the cycle of the seasons and learning to name the seasons in French and in the correct order. The kids coloured in the pages of the book and finished the sentence on the last page, their favourite season. Once they finished their books, we read it together. They were really excited about their little books, and rightfully so! Ask your child to tell you their favourite season, in French! And to name you the rest in French as well.
Every Tuesday, we go to the library to choose a book to borrow for the week. The excitement over books is something I hope never fades as these guys get older! Looking at books with no purpose but pleasure develops early literacy skills such as left to right reading, recognizing that print carries a purpose, letter recognition and so much more!
